Dr. Xun Luo

Professor in Computer Science. Researcher and Deputy Director on International Collaboration at State Key Laboratory of Virtual Reality Technology and Systems, co-director de China-Colombia Connected Experience Universal Labs

Xun Luo is a researcher and Deputy Director on International Collaboration at China Laboratory of Virtual Reality Technology and Systems (ChinaVR). He got bachelor and master’s in computer science from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, and Ph.D. in computer science from University of Illinois at Chicago. Currently he holds the appointments of International Project Director at ChinaVR and co-director of China-Colombia Connected Universal Experiences Labs in Cali, Colombia.


Talk Abstract:

GIS and Digital Twins for Biodiversity: Case Studies of China-LATAM Joint Projects Technologies in sensing and rendering, and GIS systems create unprecedented opportunites to create digital twins for flora, fauna and natural habitats. China Laboratory of Virtual Reality Technology and Systems (ChinaVR), a national leader in basic and applied research, highly values values the importance and collaboration potential of Latin America. In August 2019 it established regional branch center: Connected Universal Experiences Labs in Cali, Colombia. Projects carried out by the center in biodiversity, smart cities and digital economy achieved very good outcome in the past five years.
