Dr. Xun Luo

Professor in Computer Science. Researcher and Deputy Director on International Collaboration at State Key Laboratory of Virtual Reality Technology and Systems, co-director de China-Colombia Connected Experience Universal Labs

Xun Luo is a researcher and Deputy Director on International Collaboration at the State Key Laboratory of Virtual Reality Technology and Systems. He got bachelor and master’s in computer science from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, and Ph.D. in computer science from University of Illinois at Chicago. Currently he holds the appointments of International Project Director at the State Key Lab, Director of Technical Committee on Virtual Reality of China Computer Federation (CCF), and co-director of China-Colombia Connected Universal Experiences Labs in Cali, Colombia.


About State Key Laboratory of Virtual Reality Technology and Systems

Located in Beijing, China. The State Key Laboratory of Virtual Reality Technology and Systems is China’s only national laboratory in the field of Virtual Reality. It was founded by the former vice minister of education, current chair of science and technology committee of ministry of education, Chinese academician Zhao Qinping. The lab’s annual budget is over 20 million US dollars and has more than 500 graduate students. The State Key Lab highly values the importance and collaboration potential of Latin America. In August 2019 it established regional branch center: Connected Universal Experiences Labs in Cali, Colombia. Projects carried out by the center in biodiversity, smart cities and digital economy achieved very good outcome in the past five years.
