Is a Lecturer in UC Berkeley’s School of Public Health, where she teaches Introduction to Environmental Health Sciences and Drinking Water and Health, and Applied GIS for Public Health.Her research interests focus on the microbial ecology and control of waterborne pathogens. Current research focus is the exploration of the Human Right to Water (UN Resolution 64-292), and mobile-GIS applications for community water projects. She has worked extensively throughout Central and South America. Dr. Smith holds a BS in Microbiology from the University of Michigan, an MA in Community Health from the City University of New York, and a Ph.D. in Environmental Health Sciences from the University of California at Berkeley.
